Scanned some of my sketchbook stuff from the past two weeks!
Noa of Skydoll, in SPACE! I definitely want to finish this up.
Some ATCs of local burlesque dancers. I plan on doing a whole set and giving each card to their respected dancer. These lovely ladies pose for our local Dr. Sketchy's live drawing sessions so I thought the cards would be a nice 'thank you' for them.
Steampunk anthro pin up I'm hoping to color soon and use as a print for Nekocon. I stupidly left my tablet at home so it'll be a week or so before I can touch it but it'll get done.
Here's a teaser for Chapter two of Kale! Things are going on! I've also decided to split chapter two into two chapters, and that should comprise book #1. I'm still very excited about it X3 Also working on my Alencia cosplay, I'm brimming with nerdy joy!
Well I'm off to bed. I'm not feeling very well but I've got work to do tomorrow... I hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial day!

Working through the Summer
Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up as to why it's so quiet around here lately.
I'm on a little vacation, as in I'm hanging out with my fiance' for a week. I'll be back in Richmond next week but for now I'm working on a book for my summer class and working on Kale. I've rewritten chapter 2 but I've been struggling to layout the first few pages. I think I'm over that for now but I left my comic paper at my parent's house so I'll be doing the actual pages later. For the mean time I'm story boarding and sketching out and planning certain scenes for the chapter, which is working out quite well.
For my summer class book I'm rewriting it and will be making the dummy book soon. It's still about Precocious Puberty and PCOS but its a book instead of a comic but will still have some antidotes and illustrations. I want to treat it as a kind of friendly field guide to both conditions and aim it at the girls that will be diagnosed with them. I'm feeling better about it and since I have medical information in it my doctor has agreed to look over it for me to make sure everything is correct. She was really enthusiastic about it so I'm feeling more pumped up about it. I also got a lot of writing done for it yesterday which has added to my enthusiasm.
When I get back to Richmond I'll be going through the 'Or Maybe Not' archives and counting up how many pages the first book will have. I have plenty of pages done I just want to do some newer ones for it too. Ryan has written so many good scripts this year it would be a shame not to draw any of the pages for the first book.
When I get back I'll also have my scanner and I'll have some more things to share here. I've got things spread between my house, parent's house and fiancé's house but soon everything will be in one place and working will be a little easier. I'm still having a pretty hard time finding a summer job but hopefully I'll hear back from someone. In the mean time, I'm currently open for commissions! All my info is found here, just drop me a note on Deviantart or an email and I'll fix you up with some personalized artwork!
And now a to do list that is mainly for my own reference ^^;
To do:
+Summer Class Book

start illustrations
research publishers
+Kale:
comic pages
finish coloring Kale poster
finish coloring Alencia pic

Alencia
Little preview of an image of Alencia from my Kale comic. I'm gonna color this and experiment with glow effects.
Did this while listening to the new episode of 'Talk Without Rhythm' Podcast. You should give it a listen!

More class work
I'M DONE WITH SPRING SEMESTER! 8D JOYOUS JOY!
Tomorrow I'll be hitting the pavement looking for a summer job. Hopefully I'll have paypal up soon so I can start taking commissions online. In the meantime, here are some photos of a few of my finished paintings for the semester.
A fuzzy photo showing all of my work laid out on the rug. I wanted to have a rough idea of just how much work I've done. It's fuzzy because I was using my room mate's SLR Nikkon camera but I didn't know how to focus it properly until the end of the 'photo shoot.'
Eye painting.
Ear painting. I really like this one a lot.
The nose/mustache profile painting.
I'll scan in the other water-color studies I have later this week.
Man I'm tired. More art later.

Jar Paintings
I'm almost done with a big paper I have to write for my painting class and while going through my studies I decided to scan the paper paintings I've done for my final series project for the end of my class.
These are oil paintings on gessoed drawing/watercolor paper. They are done from photos I took of jars of colored water with different lighting situations. The whole purpose of these was to learn to paint light.
The photo for this one was blurry but I think it gave it an abstract quality.
This one had red and blue light in the photo that gave the jar a mish-mash of blue, red and purple light.
These last two are my favorites of the paper paintings.
I like that the light is more subtle in this one. It's surrounded by darkness but the light is dimly shining through.
This one is the biggest of this series and my favorite of them. I layered so much paint on to this to get the lighting as close as possible. I think I still ended up making it too dark but honestly I'm glad it, and the others, turned out not to be mirror images of their photo counterparts. Straight up copying photos isn't' much fun, and I learned so much from these. I look forward to painting lots of strange and fun things in the future.

Comic tidbits
I've been working on my summer project class presentation today and I think it might just be finished up. I just need to present it and get signatures and an override to actually sign me up for it. Here's hoping to it goes smoothly. And heres a few cover mockups I did for it:
I like the pink one a lot X3 I have about 4 rough pages done but they are so rough and messy that I'm too embarrassed to show them right now. I'll post pages and stuff over the summer for it as they get done. When I finish it and turn everything in I plan on printing it as a mini comic (as part of the final). If anyone is interested in it when it's done then I'll make more booklets.
And worry not! I still plan on doing Kale pages this summer! Speaking of which, I have some awesome news on that front. My good friend Michelle, who is a seasoned and talented cosplayer, came to me saying that she plans to cosplay as Kale for Nekocon this November, and she's going to be my booth mascot and pass out fliers for my table :D Because of this I decided it only natural that I should cosplay as Alencia (also from my Kale book) so we can both pimp my book. I'm so happy that she wants to do this tho, she's perfect for it. I've dreamed of the day when people would cosplay my characters and now its' come! My Lina Inverse cosplay shall happen another day, but that's fine. I didn't think I could get even more excited for Nekocon but I just did! XD

Finals art dump
Finals to do list:
+Bio Final on Friday
+Monday 10th, turn in paper + meeting with teacher, bring ALL paintings EVER.
+Summer class presentation
+look for summer job
Here are some things I've been working on art-wise:
+Kale Cover.
still chugging along at it.
+Paintings for class
Had a surprise final today in Italian (well surprise to me, I seemed to be the only one who thought the final was Thursday but I still think I did well). It's almost over! I'm trying to finish my comic proposal to turn in soon, and Dr. Sketchy's is next Wednesday so I'll have sketches from there to post. My classes will be long over by then, I'm contemplating dressing up since the theme is steampunk. We'll see... More art to come!
