When I got back here for the winter break, Ryan and I received our copy of a book about the making of the movie 'The Fantastic Mr. Fox.' I LOVE this book! Flipping through it I felt so inspired that I took out some sculpy and started sculpting a fox head. Unfortunately it looks like just about every other feline/canine/rodent out there except for a fox, but its' a good first try. Its' been fired and I planned to paint it but we'll see.

Comics and Scanners and Christmas, Oh My!
Guess who got an A3 Mustek scanner?
ME!!! 8D
I had a pile of things to scan that are too big for my A4 Canon scanner so I've been having a ball figuring everything out. But now I have the wrinkles ironed out and lots of things scanned, including my 'Run Ramla Run' comic I did over the summer. In fact I'd like to add more to it now :P Go figure, I love making more work for myself. Here are my projects I've scanned for your enjoyment!
Run Ramla Run: A Scion Hero Fan Comic
I actually lost the script that I wrote with this so I had to improvise all the dialogue after scanning it. I think its' all right, at least for now.
Kale Comic Concept Art
I've been drawing a lot of Kale stuff lately, mostly fleshing out characters and trying to draw them all consistently. I even did a hight chart but I may have to do it again, but smaller.
Yule Tide Dinner by ~Spork-Bunny on deviantART
As for the Kale comic itself, I redid page one and will probably end up making another page after it (so splitting what was on page one into two pages) and then continuing on the story. I have lot of perspective coming up so I need to get back into the groove of perspective grids. Drawing the grid correctly is the hardest part for me but other than that its' easy to use.
I hope everyone had a nice Christmas today (for those who celebrate it). Otherwise I hope everyone is staying safe and warm. We're supposed to get freezing rain today so our two feet of snow outside will freeze to solid ice. Nice.

Kale Comic Concept Art
Since I only really have one final to study for I decided to vent some frustration (nothing serious) by drawing some concept art for my Kale comic. I will be working on pages over the holiday break. I'm hoping to get a good chunk of it done over the break. When I print the book I'd also like to throw in mini illustrations and concept art in the back so you might see these again in a year :P
Here we have Evander the bard rocking out with his guitar/mandolin hybrid instrument. BARDIC POWAH! I just love the concept of casting spells with music. At the bottom we have Theolin, Alencia's undead cat. He sheds a lot :<
Here is Alencia doing her medium thing with some ghost orbs and shadow people. I'd like to do a painted/ink-wash version of this later. I really like the vertical composition.
I also have a turn-around of Kale but its' bigger than my scanner so once I get my bigger scanner (Christmas time!) then I'll scan it, and those Scion comic pages from the summer. It'll be such a relief to be able to scan everything! :D

Holidays are coming!
This year's christmas card:
Christmas Card 2009 by ~Spork-Bunny on deviantART
Now to get it printed, get the cards put together, get envelopes that will fit them, and send them out :P
I also finished my painting final today so I'll take nice photos of it tomorrow and post it to DA too. I'll also be mounting my photography final tomorrow and studying for Sociology. All is going well so far! :D

Big Brown Sketch Book
Sketch Book Tiems!
Rip Van Wrinkle sketch, via Hellsing.
Life drawings. My friend's TV (missing buttons and cables) and her Canson camera. My fox plushy "Jacques" and my last can of Mountain Dew :(
My fiance' Ryan's characters Clayton and Misaki, of Clayton Chronicles. I still have trouble drawing Clayton but at least Misaki and her kimono came out nicely.
Some clothing studies of people while I was waiting for my next class at Shafer. My second class was canceled but I didn't know until I got there so I had two hours to kill until my painting class. (these only took about 10 minutes to do) I was lugging around a bag of supplies and a three foot tall painting around so it was nice to let it sit for a bit.
Some heads of Alex, another character of my fiance'. A doodle of Bayonetta shooting kittens out of her heels (inside joke with some friends), and some 'Or Maybe Not' sketches for the new zombie story arch I hope to work on soon. Having some fun with the red pen :P
A lulzy doodle of my Werewolf: Apocalypse character, Luana, scolding Perry (a freind's Fianna) who she finds sleeping on her door step. Really I just wanted to draw her little muffin top hips and tattoos. So cute. I think I should have given Perry actual eyes :P

Paintings and Photos and Finals, OH MY!
Work on finals is going well, better than expected actually. I've just got to make sure not to waist time this week and get things done. I worked on my painting over the weekend and today, so here are some progress shots:
When I brought it home.
After working on it at home.
After working on it today.
I think its' come really far and is feeling more warm and life-like as I work on it. It's not as photo realistic as some of my class mate's work but I hope it meets a satisfactory critique. It's the biggest painting I've ever done and its' a huge undertaking but I'm pretty happy with it. It's one big step towards getting better with oil paint.

Panera is good for progress!
Here is a new illustration that I've been working on lately of Kale, to accommodate my comic of her that I'm currently working on. I'm thinking of making it a mini print kind of thing.
And some current sketchbook pages!
Misaki, one of my fiancé's characters from his big story we're working on, Clayton Chronicles.
More Clayton Chronicles sketches. Patrick and Vespa taking a little time to enjoy each other's company. Proud parents to be!
And my alter ego, Loli-Fran from Or Maybe Not, hauling some luggage to the car in preparation for a con. She was shouting "GET IN THE GODDAMN CAR" but it got cut off. I just found the whole situation funny.
These last three sketches were done while chilling at Panera with some friends while waiting for our department to go over our portfolios. I added some color with Copic Markers while at home. I might go back and add color to sketches more often, I think it breathes some life into them.

Painting Progress
I finally have a nice photo of the Bastet painting I did as practice painting #3
And the newest progress shot of my final painting. It's really coming along now C:
It looks really green because of the wall behind it :P
And tomorrow is portfolio day for the department. yay? Not really but I got my disk of photography work that I posted to my class flickr account done (didn't have room for hundreds of other photos I've taken for the class so far. Too bad). I might throw in a personal sketchbook from when the semester started but I'm not sure yet. Anyway, back to work for me!

Kale Comic and Crappy Weather
First off... it's been raining for the past two days, and it may rain for two more. :/
The view from my back porch (and the reflection of my ankh, sorry about that).
As you may or may not know, I've decided to get an AA table at Nekocon next year (provided I can stay on top of it and buy one in time and get a hotel in time too...). But to prepare for it I've been working on a comic to sell there. I'm doing a little book about my character Kale, and her quest to find her kidnapped mentor. The night I came back from Nekocon I wrote out a detailed synopsis of the story, then story boarded the first 6 pages. I've been doing a page every day and I've inked the first 3 pages so far. I'm really proud and I'm going to do my best to keep it up. I'll be experimenting to see if shading it on Ps will work best. I'd rather do that right now than ruin the inked pages with markers if I mess up. I also want to keep it clean and streak free.
I'll also be working on prints and other things to sell there too. I'd like to get stickers made but Heidi told me the convention center banned stickers because people stick them on doors and such. I think that's a silly thing to do, especially since nice stickers are not terribly cheap. But even a as freebe, I think stickers would be nice to have. I'm also getting tired of buttons but we'll see if I can make some or get them made. I don't really have the money for a big button maker right now :P But I'm also thinking of doing con badges, bookmarks, and commissions.
God its' pissing down outside! I have a Sociology test today so I have to go out in it. And since its' been raining my bus has been about 30 min late everyday 9_9 Infuriating!
Here's a progress shot of my Viking painting so far. I finally smartened up and am storing it downstairs when I'm not working on it. Now my room doesn't smell like oil paint anymore :P

Viking Painting Progress
Here are some progress shots of my Viking painting I'm doing for my illustration painting class.
I'm hoping to have some illustration and personal work going soon. I've only really been able to doodle between classes and paint during class. But when I do have some more work to show, I'll be sure to post it here.

Busy Month
Gah! No posts for October yet? This simply won't do.
Unfortunately the last month has literally whizzed by in a flash. I can't believe we have a little over a month left of this semester. As for that portfolio scholarship I tried out for, turned out a close friend of mine won along with a few classmates. All of who deserved it :)
Here's what I've been up to during the last few weeks:
1)
2)
3)
4)
Now for sketches from my sketchbook!
Most of these sketches are of my new Werewolf Apocalypse character (a kinfolk, still nameless...), some SCION:Hero, life drawings, and chibies of me and my friends Werewolf characters XD And the naked girl is from SOCA. I didn't like the other SOCA drawings enough to post :/
So that's what I've been doing recently...
Also, here are sketches from the first half of the month that I posted at my school blog (blog for photography class, I'm going to delete it eventually)

1)
1)Progression of my second practice oil painting (the fox hat being the first) of my fiance' Ryan.
2)
2)Progress shot of my third practice painting. I'm painting a scene of my Bastet statue. It's farther along now but I'll have to take photos of that later (and I will).
3)
3)The very beginnings of my final painting for my painting class this semester.
4)
4)A few photos from Zombie walk. All my best ones are on Facebook.
