Working Hard
Gee things have been busy lately. I've got to leave in 20 min to catch a bus up to Franklin Terrace so I can turn in my portfolio for review today for a chance to win a slice of a $15K scholarship money pie. Mmm pie.
I also just turned in my submission for the FA: United website. I got my room mates to critique it and it REALLY helped. I love being an art student <3 I've also got to make sure I pick up my design portfolio that I dropped off last semester, before the summer :s I hope I can find it, I spent money on that presentation portfolio.
Then I have to study more for a Sociology test I have at the end of the day.
Laters!

Foxy Painting
I finally finished my first oil painting! It's a practice painting so I could learn how to paint fur in preparation for my final painting in my Illustration class, which will be my fiance' Ryan dressed as a Frazetta-ish viking. I say 'Frazetta-ish' because I'm not oiling him up or having him scantily clad or anything, that would just be strange to explain, especially on critique day :s
example
I love seeing his brushstrokes. Hopefully I can see some of his work in person but for now high resolution jpegs will have to do. I'm going to keep researching his work in hopes that I can improve my paint work by studying him. Maybe I can find an art book of his or something. We'll see.
But first, here's my painting!
Painting with my hat <3 I'm looking forward to the weather getting cooler so I can start wearing it again.

FA: United Contest
I so I'm going to try and enter a contest at Fur Affinity for the FA:United website. They need art for the site with the theme "Gamers United" so I decided to do an fantasy RPG couple looking at a treasure map. It looked really cute in my sketchbook so I decided when drawing it out that I'd try and 'up my game' with it. I've been feeling inspired to try harder with my work after listening to the SEQUALAB pod-casts. Its' a great source for information and in my case, inspiration and motivation.
I'm also going to do a second entry of a crest containing a D20 and a game controller (not sure which one yet, maybe atari or old school nintendo) with a scroll that says "Gamers United." I'm looking forward to finishing both entries. I'm also going to try to combine markers and watercolors for both entries. I'm finally feeling excited about art again :) I was feeling a little burnt out and down on myself but I'm getting over it.

Sketch Post (NUDITY WARNING)
Some sketches from this past weekend
Random Vampire Lady
Lucy from Stoker's Dracula after being bitten and a sketch of Nostradamus because we were watching a bogus documentary about him.
I also had SOCA last night and I did these sketches: [Nudity Warning] I did all these with the just the brush pen. I started to use blue lead to sketch it out but quickly abandoned that for just straight sketching with the brush pen. It worked out a lot better that way.
And a little sketch of Kahlid and Kale done at my friend's house <3

Painters
For my Illustration: Painting and Drawing class we have to look up painters that we aspire to be like. Granted I do not think I will ever get to the level that these talented people are at, but who knows. Maybe if I keep painting for a few decades I can do something with it :P So here are some artists I'm really studying lately and hoping to buy prints from:
BROM- Holy shit this guy is amazing. He's one of those artists that if you don't recognize his name (and you soon will, its' enevitable) then you will have seen his work; even without knowing it. He's done covers for Forgotten Realms novels, does amazing fetish work, and is just all round awesome. Go check him out! (I want to buy some of his prints and art books so badly!)
Dame Darcy- she's a mixed bag of tricks. She does illustrations, underground comix, and has a band called "Death by Doll." At first her art style may seem crude or even amateur but on closer inspection you start to see her balance of black and white, her use of color, her exaggeration of the human form, and attention to detail.
