Drawing Dump 2014 Part II

Hello all! Continuing from the last sketch dump, here's some more sketches I've been filling my sketchbook with~

Practice page of Lor's story drawn in my sketchbook. I just needed to get this little reunion out of my head and on paper.

I started to give myself a new little persona for whenever I draw myself. I found a troll with stubby horns to be fitting and enjoy drawing her/me. So here she is being sassy in a maid costume because of reasons.

I started drawing this female knight and when I got to her arm I realized it was a boring pose so to spice it up I gave her a bone arm. I think she's cursed but over time changed her armor and started using her curse as what makes her special. I want to redo this as a full color illustration for my artbook I'm trying to cook up.

A Hime Lolita styled mouse girl. Drawn while playing around with more Alice concept art. Might turn into a character or illustration idea later.

Stay tuned for more artwork, and thanks for sticking around!

Drawing Dump 2014 Part I

Hello all! Things have been busy around here, but pleasantly so! Lots of birthdays being celebrated (my own included as I have ascended to level 26!) and I am left with a feeling being loved. I manged to have a lot of friends over to my new house for the first time and having a house full of people I care about has been recharging! Also now my house is REALLY clean.
Art-ing has been sporadic due to weekends being full of things to do but I've manged get some sketches together that I've done recently.

Sketch of Alice from an upcoming comic project. Just her admiring a new outfit she's put together.

A character design where the idea was to have a troll-like character who is a mage and uses two enchanted clubs as magic wands for casting spells. She also enjoys 'pretty' things like jewelry and dresses.

Brush pen drawing done as a gift for my fiance'. I'm very happy with how this turned out.

Aside from sketches I've also started a new blog! It's about my love of fashion and my personal journey of getting more involved with Lolita fashion. It's been fun so far and is my way of getting acquainted with Wordpress blogs.

I've also decided to leave FurAffinity and have chosen to migrate to "Weasyl" under the advice of some friends. So I'll be posting anthro art over there. Lately I've been working on concept art and story with Ryan for our next comic project, "Unintentionally Alice" and since it's an anthro story I'll be posting sketches and drawings over there for it too. But of course these drawings will make their way over here as well.

So with that I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!
More art to come!

Happy International Lolita Day!

Hello everyone!

I break away from hectic overtime and bad weather to give you a frilly drawing. I found out this morning it is International Lolita day (one of two such days a year: one in winter and one in the summer). Since I was at work all day I didn't have the opportunity to dress up so I thought I'd post this drawing I did over the last two days as a mild stress reliever. It features 'Seraphim' my reluctant Lolita Magical Girl/Super hero. She was originally part of the 'Spork Bunny' story and started as a gag character yet I found myself developing her pretty well. I would really like to do a mini comic about her some time describing her background and personality traits more.

Done with Copic multiliners, Copic Markers, and colored pencil on A6 sized Deleter comic paper ('postcard sized').

Day 14

Day 14 continues with the next monster girl design; Alien. Lately I've been getting nostalgic for old school Lolita fashion (early 2000's mainly) so I decided to indulge myself and draw an Alien girl in her first Lolita dress. She had to tare her second set of arms through it but otherwise its a nice fit! I also purposefully drew her without breasts. She's not a mammal and her design is lazy enough without making her too human :P

Not sure if its easy to tell but she's taking a mirror 'selfie' photo with her smart phone.

Don't forget to see what El Goro is up to with his next installment of "31 Days of Halloween!"

Tripple L

A little watercolor illustration in response to a comment from a friend about a wrestling name she made up for me.

THE LACEY LAMBASTING LOLITA!

The clothing designs are from various brands but I changed the colors to match a purple/lavender color pallet. I also wish I had that wig.

Demonic Frills

To prep for today's illustration I started doing some warm up drawings. I'm very tired from work today (under staffed, overworked, along with rude customers, it just hasn't been a great day) but while drawing I really liked this one of a little demon girl wearing a Lolita outfit featuring plague doctor masks and flowers. I decided on the print pattern near the end, but if I had planned it out early I probably would have given her a mask :P Making her a demon was inspired by a photo a friend posted recently of a goat with two pairs of large horns. I thought it was interesting and it grew from there. I also just really miss drawing Lolita related things. So here's day 9, a demon girl in frills to chase away my retail blues. I do plan on coloring her, I just don't have the strength today, forgive me.

I'll try to draw something scarier tomorrow, promise. Be sure to check in with El Goro and see what horror movie he's reviewing today!

That's Not How You Make Friends

Good morning boils and ghouls!

Today starts the beginning of the "31 Days of Horror Art" project! Today we begin with an ink and watercolor illustration called "Making Friends."

I really love working with the Pentel Pocket Brush-Pen and the ink is very waterproof (unlike the regular Pentel Brush-Pen) so it allows me to work with watercolor and not smear the ink everywhere. For this image I wanted to show a more sinister side to Lolitas and play on the comments I've seen over the years from girls who are the 'only Lolita in the village' who long to have a friend who likes the fashion. I thought it would be funny if one of these girls 'made' a friend who was a fellow Lolita.

For anyone who doesn't know what Lolita Fashion is here is the handbook where you can read all about it. Here is also the original article that got me hooked on the fashion almost 10 years ago.

El Goro of Talk Without Rhythm Pocast has started his "31 Days of Horror" reviews with the movie "The Ghoul." Check it out!

I'm off to a grueling day of truck shift now, see you tomorrow!

Watercolor Practice

A small watercolor painting I’ve been working on and off since the holidays. My character Alice from a comic that me and Ryan want to work on in the future. It’s not hugely important for us to get done soon so it might pop up in the next few years. Otherwise I’ll just keep drawing her for fun. I tweaked the colors to be brighter and more vibrant since my scanner ate them. I also forgot when I painted it that I wasnt' going to give her a pink nose anymore. Awell. It was fun to work on and I learned a lot from it.

Moar digital work

A few more digital works that I did last night.

For this one I thought really hard about complimentary colors. Color is still something I'm experimenting with.

Neko Madness!

Hey everyone! I thought I'd take a break from the hectic and downright rage-inducing day I've been having at school to drop some updates for you!

Nekocon was pretty awesome. It was a great experience, and while I didn't sell very much I learned a lot and it's not going to deter me from getting a table in the Artist Alley next year. I didn't get to go any panels but a lot of my friends visited me at my table which was great. That and my brother from another mother, El Goro of 'Talk Without Rhythm Podcast', drove down all the way from Ohio to see us :D He had promised me a long time ago that when I get my first AA table he will be there. And he was <3 I was also visited by friends from school and my friend Michelle who cosplayed as Kale from my comic book that I was selling there. I have awesome friends C:

Here is a photo of the table. We have decided that we will have bigger displays next year, and more art in general. We're also hoping to have the 'Or Maybe Not' comics printed up along with some buttons! A friend of mine offered her press for us to use so I think next year we will.

Some pictures of the merch, ganked from facebook since my original photos are on the laptop.

Kale cosplay!

She looks so good ;_; We took a cosplay photo together at the photo booth there (I was dressed as Alencia from my comic as she appears in the first issue, so sans tunic). I might scan the other photo later.

While at the table I decided to keep busy and draw. I would slip each new piece into my portfolio as I finished them. Some of them I may make little prints or buttons out of for next year.

Lil' Conqour for Ryan. Conqour is an out of work B-Movie monster and the star of some of Ryan's original short films. He has such a big personality!

There were lots of steampunks around the con so I drew this lovely lady up. I used some metalic gold gel pen to add shiny bits to her.

A chibi maid.

Chibi Cthulhu. At least he's not happy about it.
I think I'm going to do a nicer Cthulhu print next year...

Disgruntled Lolita. The quote is from 'Return of the Living Dead.' The guy saying it was talking about Punk, but I think it applies so easily to Lolita. Love it!

A gift for Michelle. After her Kale cosplay she went to a Sailor Moon meet up (casual clothing cosplay) as Chibi-moon so I drew Chibi-moon in the outfit she wore to the meet up. I'm quite proud of it, but I would like to do a different background when I get some time.

BEST COMMISSION EVAR. HANDS DOWN.
Done for Ian. He asked for Teddy Roosevelt punching sasquatch in the head. And he got it.

Some of these are going up on DA soon, but for now, I have work to do ;_;
See you later if school doesn't eat me up first!

Epic Sketch Dump is Epic

Here is a bunch of sketches that I did before my internet started crapping out. We're still on shaky ground with it so here's an update while hoping it will stay working.

A sketch for my room mate. She threw a cupcake party at our house. It was a huge success. We made 165 cupcakes for it.

This is NOT all the cupcakes we made.

Class doodle of a 'cat'erpillar. I want to do a more finished drawing of him later. Or maybe put him in a comic or something. It was fun giving him human body parts. I like his nose a lot too.

Doodle done before my business class. I don't doodle in class as much anymore but it does help me relax. Loli-Fran of OMN.

Cupcake Lolita doodled in anticipation of the epic cupcake party.

Across from my History class is a chemistry class. I was sitting in the hallway watching the chem students doing a lab when I doodled this.

Me being a bit overwhelmed.

Lulzy doodle of my Kinfolk character, Lou.

Speaking of Lou, I decided that I wanted to draw her actual body type down because in my head her sizes kept fluctuating and I wanted a solid reference. (As can be seen from the previous sketch, she's much busty-er than that). I decided that she is a size 14 with a DD bust. She's the busty-est of my characters so she offers me some diversity from my other female characters. I used various 'plus size' models (I still cant' believe 14 is 'plus sized' its the US average size for women. And its' not big :/ ) for reference. I also wanted to her a have a little muffin top, which I think is cute. Overall I'm really happy with how she looks. She feels more rooted in reality now, and now she can stay more cohesive when I draw her.

Doodling part of a story idea for Alencia. She has to retrieve a talking skull (a relic) from a ruin for a nearby temple. I've already started writing the roughs of the story out.

Doodle of my western RP character, Lilly the undertaker's daughter.

So many tiny, white coffins...

A celebratory sketch of the Kale and the gang, celebrating the first issue being complete. When I get some time I will ink this and possibly color it. Evander looks soooo much younger with his hair down. He may look too young. He's meant to be in his 30's, like Khalid. I'm in the process of gathering references to make another character turn around for him. I need to him to keep looking consistent. I also want him to look more Middle-Eastern/Mediterranean. This is where refs help. I plan to flesh this all out in time for issue #2 to begin. Research like this is actually ridiculously fun. I also plan to do more research for the world itself. So far I'm gathering references for a Celtic/Art Nouveau feel to Kale's world. There is so much to do, it can only keep getting better! :D

Oh and guess what. I still have MORE to post here. Next will be some doodles, sketch comics, and some more school work. Oh yeah, and that Nekocon thing is next weekend. HOLY. CRAP. Has it been a year already?

New Semester, New Work

Finally got to scan some work. Fall semester has officially started and by Monday evening I will have sampled all of my classes. I'll talk more about them on my VCU blog later. For now, I give you arts!

Macabre themed Lolita illustration. Drawn during a long break between classes and hanging out with friends. Inked with copic mulitiliner 0.1 and Pentel Pocket Brush Pen. I plan to color it and if it turns out well, and follows the AA rules and I get an AA table, then I'll try to make it a print for Nekocon.

Alencia 'Hulking out' with her powers. Started as a doodle to exaggerate her pose.

WIP. Alencia and Theolyn dressed up for Alencia's sister Gertrude's wedding. Gertrude is the older of the two sisters, and Alencia has a bit of an inferiority complex against her. Gertrude is filling out goals that Alencia's parents (mother mainly) want Alencia to reach. She loves her sister but trying to live up to her gets really tiring... I tried to play with what would be considered formal, or at least fancy, clothes in this universe. I originally wanted her to wear something inspired by an Indian Sarees. May color this later.

Did some studies of Male muscle structure and chest/body hair. It can get tedious to do the chest hair but not too bad, and I think it looks quite good by the end of it. Done from photos on Corbis.com and Google search. Finding photos of men with chest hair that isn't super thick is harder than it sounds. Most photos are no hair or waaaay too much. Make searching for refs an adventure :P I think I'll do horse sketches once I get my ref photos back from my dad's camera. I took too many not to use them.

Brush Pen Shenanigans

When not photoshooping school work I've been practicing with my brush pen.

Bitch Please by ~Spork-Bunny on deviantART

I am far too amused by this one. I'm really happy with it tho, I think I'm gaining better control over the pen as I ink.

Alencia enjoying a moment of not being so pale (aka, I used the wrong skin tone on her :P )

I feel like such a damn fangirl. I had to draw Noah Antwiler after watching his hilarious review of 'Ultima 1.' I highly suggesting giving it a watch. Even if you're not familiar with the game (I sure wasn't) it is still hilariously entertaining.

All doodles here done with the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen, and Copic Markers.

Bookmarks

I can be so forgetful at times.
I finished these book marks a while ago and forgot to post them. Mostly I'd like to know if anyone likes them? I planning on printing some up and laminating them for Nekocon. I was thinking of offering them for $2 or $3 (haven't settled on a final price yet) but I still have some printing/laminating tests to do. I'll most likely do those this weekend when I have my color printer back.

So here are the Kale bookmarks, featuring our baddy Xenla, our hero Kale, and our resident healer/exorcist Alencia. I'm also going to offer a free bookmark with the books I'll be selling. Buyer's choice.

I also drew up some Lolita ones but I'm not as in love with them as I am the Kale ones. I think I might just do the gothic and sweet ones but we'll see. Let me know which ones you like!

I think I'll add some text to these ones labeling what kinds of Lolita they are. Maybe add a ribbon or something on the ends of them too.
Please let me know what you guys think of them!

Also- Alencia cosplay photos to come later. My dad has to get them off of his camera, along with some reference photos I took recently, (I don't have my card reader and his is on his PC) but he said he'd get them on a disc for me soon. I also found boots for my costume which I'm really excited about. I just need to find some grey pants (decided leggings didn't quite work for me and her original design has pants anyway) or wait for the ones I saw at Target to go on sale. Also gotta work on more pouches and potion bottles.

More to come!

Big Sketch Post!

Here it is! I finally sat down and scanned the best of my new sketches. I've been busy lately getting ready for my summer online class (took the online orientation today) and I just set up an LJ blog for our "Or Maybe Not" comics over here. We'll be posting creator and character profiles soon then I'll start posting comic pages! :D

Photobucket
Here's my Clockwork Queen painting that I started at SCAD this time last year. I finally finished it! As I learn about painting I might do a bigger, more elaborate one but that'll be later.

Photobucket
Doodle I did to celebrate Free Comic Book Day. I loved it and I will celebrate it every year from now on!

Photobucket
This was going to be a mother's day card but I didn't get my tablet and computer back in time to color it and get it printed. I think I might turn it into a 'Thinking of you" card.

Photobucket
Ryan and I have been watching Sonic SAT AM so I drew Bunny from it. Which was hard to do because everyone draws her legs differently (the box art for the show is fan art from lots of different people). I've also been enjoying the new Spectacular Spiderman show so I thought it would be great if Dork Mate and Spork Bunny ran into him and got a photo :P I need to do a bigger better version to color now XD And a dancing robot. Because.

Photobucket

Photobucket
My new 'The Slayers' RPG character. No really, it exists! Ryan got it for me at the last VAComicon we went to. She still needs a name...

Photobucket
Speaking of RPGs, here's Kale and Ryan's character Khalid. He's either hitting on her or telling her a dirty joke. Or a combination of both. Most likely both.

Photobucket
Here's the STILL NAMELESS villain of Kale's. Don't worry, I'll name her if it kills me. Soon to be colored.

Photobucket
Dork Mate to the rescue! Soon to be a companion card to the Spork Bunny trading card.

Photobucket
When ever I need to chill or relax, nothing de-stresses me better than drawing georgious, frilly lolita dresses. *sigh* So here is OMN's Loli Fran in the "Party Princess dress" from Angelic Pretty.

So that's all I have for now! Keep an eye out on the Or Maybe Not blog and hopefully we'll have some comics up soon!
